Make Recommendations, Get Recommended on Gigpark

Gigpark

When in need of a new accountant, handyman, or cleaning service, we tend to ask a friend for a recommendation. That’s the idea behind GigPark, a great new way to recommend and find these recommendations for a variety of businesses and services that your friends already trust and use.

It may be more of a stripped-down version of LinkedIn, but instead of being strictly for business, it gives the ability for consumers to recommend business and services to other consumers. LinkedIn, on the other hand, feels more like a strictly professional platform.

If you own a business, then Gigpark could be a source of referrals and some exposure. Upon setting up a new account, you simply have to recommend 5 others to get a free ‘business listing’. It’s not a bad idea to recommend people that are in your professional network and who have used your business. They’ll receive an email notifying them of the recommendation, and after joining will most likely recommend you in return.

I recently setup one for Basetwo Media recently after having been recommended on Gigpark by a past client unsolicitedly. After recommending a few of our own clients and vendors, we immediately received several recommendations back. That initial recommendation had already provided us with over 100 leads to our website over the past year, most of which I’m assuming were fairly qualified as well.

On behalf of the GigPark team, we’re thrilled that you finding GigPark useful for your business!

And you’re right - it is a good tactic to recommend others in your professional network that have used your business. We’ve noticed that the more you put in, the more new business you get … the more you recommend, the more you get recommended.

Another good way to get more business through GigPark is to simply ask people to recommend you. Some do this in a more passive way, like putting the link to their GigPark business page on their invoices to clients or posting it to Twitter. Others use the tool in GigPark to email clients and friends and ask them directly to recommend them.

Thanks being for being part of GigPark, Jeff!
